Born April 17, 1946 in Evanston, David passed away June 11, 2018.
David was the beloved husband of 51 years of Jacquelyn; loving father of Christine (Carlos) Palmer, Lori Willer, and Amy (Kevin Sekenske) Willer; dear grandfather of Brandon and Brian; and cherished brother of Judith Wilder, Nancy (James) Schlunz, and Richard (Margaret) Willer. He was preceded in death by his parents.
David spent his childhood in Glenview and Mt. Prospect, IL. He was always a hard worker. He got his first paper route at age 8 and worked for the Mt. Prospect News Agency in several capacities until he joined the Air Force at age 20. He also delivered pizzas for Jake's in Mt. Prospect from his first car, a 56 Plymouth. He went to his first Cubs game when he was 7 and became a life long fan of our beloved Cubs. One of the highlights for David was going to Cubs Fantasy Camp for his 40th birthday. The North Woods was another of David's loves. His family vacationed near Minocqua at South Two Lake for many summers. David graduated from Prospect High School in 1964. He took all the English and History courses he could and loved playing football. After high school he went to Northern Illinois University for a year. After that he worked full time and went to school part time pursuing economics and finance at North Park College. In 1966 he was drafted into the army but chose instead to enlist in the Air Force for 4 years. He was very proud of his service in support of the Titan II missile wing in Wichita, KS. We were married May 28, 1967, spent our first married years in Wichita where Christie was born in 1969. In 1970 with his honorable discharge he went back to United Airlines working as a foreman on ramp service. He continued his education on the GI bill. We bought our first house in Roselle, IL in 1970 where we lived until buying our present home in Barrington, IL in 1978. In 1972 he joined Connecticut General in the financial services industry doing estate planning and pension planning for individuals and small businesses. He soon went out on his own and as the business changed from commission to fee for service he found his real love - studying the stock market and managing clients' assets as a Registered Investment Advisor. His love of family was ever present. Lori was born in 1972 and Amy completed our family in 1974. He cherished our 3 daughters, sons in law Carlos and Kevin and grandsons Brandon and Brian. Our best times were vacationing with family either in Hayward, WI or Tucson, AZ and celebrating family events. David loved fishing, hunting and golf and went on many international fishing and hunting trips. David developed multiple chronic illnesses over the past 25 years which finally took his life on June 11, 2018.
