Francis "Frank" Voigt

Francis “Frank” Voigt, 93, of Lake Barrington, Illinois passed away peacefully on August 26, 2023. He was born January 6, 1930 in Jamaica, New York to the late Paul and Margaret Voigt.

Frank graduated from Richmond Hill High School in New York in 1948, where he held the free style swimming record for 10 years. He graduated from Hofstra University with a degree in Marketing in 1952. After graduating he married Maureen McCarthy in Queens, New York.

After graduating, he was drafted into the United States Army where he was stationed in Japan. Once he returned home in 1954, he began working for Dun & Bradstreet as an auditor until he started working for the Gulf Oil Company as a credit representative.  Frank completed his career as a Corporate Officer and V.P. of Human Resources for world-wide Borden Inc. in Columbus, Ohio. Frank donated much of his free time to the Columbus Opera house, Worthington Community Theatre, the Worthington School Board, and The Diocese of Columbus.

Frank and Maureen relocated to Lake Barrington, Illinois where his children resided. After Maureen’s passing, Frank married Kathleen May where they had many happy years together. Frank enjoyed cooking, travelling, playing tennis, and skiing with his family at his condo in Keystone, Colorado. He was also a long time member of the Brookside Golf and Country Club, and enjoyed golfing with his wife Kathleen at the Lake Barrington Shores Golf Club.

Frank is survived by his loving wife of 15 years, Kathleen May Voigt; children, Sharon (Bill) Sowers, Mary Ellen (David) Gearhart, Francie (Steve) Prisby; grandchildren, Justin (Christina) Mitrani, Sean Mitrani, Craig Sowers, Mike (Lindsay) Sowers, Colleen Francis, Hannah Francis, Rachel Prisby, Meghan Prisby, Jeremy Gearhart; great-grandchildren, Millie and Jonny; Kathleen’s 6 children, and 16 grandchildren; and his beloved sister-in-law, Patricia (Fred) Wernig and their children.

Frank is preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Maureen (nee McCarthy) Voigt; his daughter, Kathleen Voigt; and brother, Paul (Margaret) Voigt Jr.

Visitation will be held August 31, 2023 from 10am until the time of Mass at 11am at Saint Anne Catholic Community Church, 120 North Ela Street (Corner of Franklin and Ela Street), Barrington.
