Michael “Zee” Ziemba was a loving father, son, brother, nephew, uncle and friend. He peacefully departed this world on April 18, 2022 surrounded by loved ones.
It is difficult to capture Mike’s life in just a few paragraphs. His spirit was larger than life, and his sense of humor and youthful nature a constant reminder of his light-hearted and kind personality. Mike was the relative and friend always encouraging reunions, get togethers and staying in touch with everyone who was fortunate enough to have met and loved him.
Mike was born in Elmhurst, Illinois on November 27, 1972 to Eugene and Virginia Ziemba, and grew up in Crystal Lake, Illinois. He later attended Illinois State University and graduated with a B.A. in Business. Shortly after graduation, Mike moved to Denver, Colorado in 1998.
Mike’s love of the outdoors including cycling, backpacking, hiking and snowboarding drew him to Colorado. He spent many years living and working out West with family and friends before moving to Hartland, Wisconsin to fulfill the greatest role of his life, fatherhood.
Mike’s greatest achievement is his son, Alex. Always a kid at heart, he spent most of his time with Alex riding bikes together, coaching baseball, playing football in the “back 40” and countless projects including building and shooting model rockets, assembling Lego sets or cooking meals together in the kitchen.
Mike will be remembered fondly for his big personality, humorous nature and loving heart.
Michael is survived by his son, Alex F. Horn; parents, Gene and Ginny Ziemba; sisters, Kristin Ziemba and Laura (Shane) Rippentrop; nieces and nephews, Ella Ziemba, and Cayden and Avery Rippentrop; and many aunts, uncles, and countless friends.
