Robert “Bob” R. Armstrong, age 77, passed away peacefully in his sleep on July 9th, 2023.
Bob was preceded in death by his loving wife of 33 years, Veronica (nee Zelske); his parents, H.C. “Pete” and Frances (nee Dempsey) Armstrong; and his brothers, Victor and Kenneth Armstrong.
He will be deeply missed by his daughter, Amanda (Yabin) Zhao; his beloved grandson, Xander; and sisters, Connie Armstrong Wilinski and Wanda Armstrong Fowler; as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Throughout his life, Bob was dedicated to making a better life for his family and making a positive impact on the world. He pursued many different interests and occupations, finally becoming a manufacturer’s representative establishing his company, L.A.P.D. Sales, Inc. with his business partners.
He was a proud supporter and spokesperson for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, always willing to help and pay back to the hospital that saved his daughter’s life. Bob was also a devoted member of the Freemasons and Shriner’s organizations; he highly valued their principles of friendship, charity, and brotherhood the groups upheld. Through his involvement, he found camaraderie and worked diligently to help raise money for the Shriner’s Children’s Hospitals.
In addition to philanthropic pursuits, Bob loved classic cars and spending time with friends and family. The arrival of his grandson, Xander, brought immense joy to his life, and he treasured every moment spent with him.
Bob’s memory will forever be cherished by those that had the privilege of knowing him. His kindness, generosity, and dedication to helping others will leave a lasting impact on all those who were touched by his presence.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, September 24, 2023 from 11 AM until the Celebration of Bob's life at 1:30 PM at Davenport Family Funeral Home and Crematory, 419 E. Terra Cotta Ave. (Rte. 176), Crystal Lake, IL 60014. Interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and The Shriner’s Children’s Hospitals in honor of Bob’s commitment to helping others.
