ADELAID ""ADDIE"" HART Adelaide (Addie) Elizabeth Hart, 88, of McHenry and formerly of Crystal Lake, died peacefully surrounded by her loving family Monday, January 25, 2010 at Northern Illinois Medical Center in McHenry. She was born in Chicago on October 4, 1921, the daughter of Herbert and Elizabeth (nee Cook) Bach. She was brought up in Wilmette and lived in McHenry on the Fox River over the summers. In 1936, she moved with her family to Crystal Lake. After graduating from Crystal Lake Central High School in 1939, she entered Sherman Hospital School of Nursing. After nursing school, she married Floyd Hart in 1947 in Prospect Heights, IL. She worked at Oak Manufacturing during World War II, and then worked in Chicago for Lloyds of London. In 1947 she worked for Terra Cotta Co. for 3 years. She would mostly be remembered for working at Four Seasons Hallmark Store in the Crystal Lake Plaza for 14 years before retiring in 1981. She was past Treasurer of Green Twig Garden Club, a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, Crystal Lake Book Club, and St. Thomas Bridge and Pinochle Club. She volunteered for 16 years at Sherman Hospital Auxiliary and worked for the Village Resale. She belonged to the Senior League at Twin Ponds and Women?s Golf League at Crystal Woods. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Crystal Lake. Addie was a loving and devoted grandmother. A woman of many talents, she was an excellent seamstress and liked to garden. An avid Cubs fan, she loved baseball and in the spring of 1994 threw out the opening pitch for Continental Little League. She inherited the love of music, especially the piano. Survivors include her two daughters, Pam (Roland) Nordstrom and Sue (Jim) Tonyan, both of Crystal Lake; her five grandchildren, Erik (Courtney) Nordstrom of Cary, Troy (Jackie) Tonyan of Crystal Lake, Bradley Tonyan of Crystal Lake, L.J. Tonyan of Denver, CO, and Amy (Matt) VanLanduyt of Spring Grove; great grandchildren Eve Tonyan and Liam Nordstrom; two sisters, Marilyn Healy of Dunedin, FL and Jan Kelly Carter of Palm Harbor, FL; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Floyd in 2003, two brothers-in-law, Charles Kelly and Hugh Healy, and her sister Margaret in 2005. The memorial visitation will be held on Saturday, January 30 at 9:30 am with a service at 11:30 am at Davenport Family Funeral Home, 419 E Terra Cotta Ave (Rt. 176), Crystal Lake. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorials in her name may be given to the American Diabetes Association, PO Box 11454, Alexandria VA 22312.
