Alicia Regan Kuranda

1971 — 2023

Davenport Crystal Lake

It is with shattered hearts that the Regan-Kuranda families share the news of Alicia Regan Kuranda's passing on the evening of April 27th, 2023, at the age of 51.

As a wife to Richard and a mother to Olivia, Sophia, Eliza, and Wyatt, Alicia fought a heroic and private battle with cancer and passed away peacefully surrounded by her loved ones. She was a remarkable woman, known for her strength and fearlessness in all aspects of her life. Her family and friends are devastated by her loss but take solace in the knowledge that she lived a life filled with love and purpose. Alicia's impact on those who knew her as a talented performer on stage, film, and TV and philanthropist/grant writer will be deeply felt.

Alicia was born and raised in Valley Forge, PA. She was a long-distance swimmer and scholarship student at St. Bonaventure University. With an MFA from the New School in New York, she became a lifetime member of the acclaimed Actors Studio and performed for over 12 years Off Broadway and in regional theaters before starting a family.  She also was a creative voice with new plays at Epic Repertory, where she adored collaborating with JT Rogers and Sean Grennan. For the last decade, she performed with the professional troupe Williams Street Repertory in Crystal Lake, IL, which she co-founded. She also worked in Film and Television (Batman V Superman, Chicago Fire, The Sopranos). Alicia’s professional life as a grant writer generated over 250 million dollars for organizations such as the Raue Center, Kids Above All, Lyman Allyn Art Museum, Big Dog Rescue, The Metropolitan Museum of Art, Florida Museum of Photographic Arts, The Girl Scouts and many more. This philanthropic work matched her passion to support others. She was always one to invest herself in others and always with a sense of humor. Alicia believed in service above self.

Alicia was preceded in death by her loving father, Joe Regan. She is further survived by her beloved mother, Patricia Regan; siblings, Joey, Maria, Laura, Mel, and Dan; and several aunts, uncles, and nieces.

A Celebration of Life is scheduled at Raue Center for the Arts, in Crystal Lake, on Thursday July 27, 2023, at 1 pm. All are invited.  A private ceremony for family members will take place beforehand.

In lieu of flowers, the Regan Kuranda family is asking memorials in Alicia's honor be made to an education fund for their four children via the Fundrazr website: fundrazr.com/kurandafamily
