Amy Elizabeth (Suffield) Morgan

April 2, 1964 — August 21, 2022

Davenport Crystal Lake

Amy Morgan slipped into the loving arms of her Lord and Savior on Sunday, August 21, 2022. She was born on April 2, 1964, in Park Ridge, IL, the second of four children to Harlan W. and Patricia Ann (Donovan) Suffield.

She grew up in Harvard, IL, where she enjoyed participating in 4H, dance lessons, and learning piano from Pamela Camp. She also sang in the children’s choir at Trinity Lutheran Church and joined in on the many activities offered there. Amy became an accomplished pianist and in 1981 toured Europe as accompanist to the Greater Chicago Youth Chorale. In 1982, she earned her high school diploma from the National Guild of Piano Teachers and graduated from Marian Central Catholic High School in Woodstock, IL. She went on to pursue a Bachelor of Business degree from Western Illinois University in 1986 and subsequently earned her CPA certification.

Amy’s first job after college was with State Farm Insurance. It was there that she met her biggest champion, Chris Morgan. Chris was a constant source of encouragement, big picture thinking, and levity in Amy’s life. She was always grateful that he showed her the joy and happiness that life has to offer and she loved him deeply. They were married on April 1, 1989, and together raised four beautiful daughters in Crystal Lake, IL. Being a stay-at-home mom had been Amy’s dream and she felt very fortunate to have that dream come to fruition. She thoroughly enjoyed taking care of her children, homemaking, and doing needlework. She played tennis, was an excellent cook, baker, and seamstress, and loved sharing her gifts with others.

Amy was able to pass on her love of music to nearly 250 young piano students during her career and, after 32 years, retired from teaching private piano lessons in August, 2021. She was accompanist to the church choir for many years and occasionally filled in for worship services at both Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Cary, IL, and Immanuel Lutheran Church in Crystal Lake, IL. Volunteering was an important focus in Amy’s life as she felt it was important to give to others. She was very involved in both school and church—art mom, birthday book mom, classroom helper, and room mom. She taught Sunday School, worked in the church nursery, and was a MOPS mentor and a Kids Hope mentor. She served on the church board and was willing to pitch in wherever needed but she especially loved sewing costumes for the Prairie Ridge musicals.

Amy is survived by her husband of 33 years, Chris Morgan; her daughters, Sarah, Kathryn, Margaret, and Grace; her siblings, Kate (Mike) Crowley, Peter Suffield, and Anne Boone; nieces and nephews, Andrew (Emily) Crowley, Meg Crowley, Mary Katharine (Ryan) Hutchinson, Alex Crowley, Georgia, Holden, and Avery Boone, Beth (Michael) Cowan, Kyle (Anabeth) Morgan, Dan Janty, and Pam Janty; her sister-in-law Carol Morgan; and brother-in-law Dale (Gwen) Morgan.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her in-laws, Jack and Leola Morgan.

A memorial visitation will be Saturday, August 27, from 9am until the time of a service at 11am at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 300 Pathway Ct, Crystal Lake.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Immanuel Lutheran Church .
