Andrée Louise Eckert (nee Galarneau), 85, passed away peacefully on June 18, 2024, with family by her side.
Andrée was born in Chicago, IL on August 12, 1938, and graduated from Amundsen High School. As a child, she played the accordion, enjoyed visiting the lake with her cousin, developed a love for animals, and fostered lifelong friendships. She attended college and nursing school, yet ultimately worked in advertising at Leo Burnett where she met and married Bill Eckert. In 1972 with two daughters, they moved from Chicago to Barrington, IL where she lived for 37 years, and was a member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Barrington for over 50 years.
Andrée loved traveling, especially to other countries where she could learn about different cultures. She cared deeply for animals, doing what she could to love and help them in one way or another. She prioritized time for family and friends, regularly planning or hosting the next gathering. Above all, she was a devoted mother and grandmother, and had strong, unwavering faith through her entire life.
Andrée was preceded in death by her parents Charles and Thelma Galarneau. She is survived by her children Amy Eckert and Julie (Philip) Guziec, her grandchildren Meagan, Robert, Joseph, William and Grace, her brother Ray (Lynne) Galarneau, her cousins Lynette Cressler and Jean Moore, and Bill Eckert.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Andrée’s name to The Anti-Cruelty Society, as this organization was important to her.
