Anita Zabielski

Anita Mary Zabielski, born March 6, 1941, in Chicago, Illinois, peacefully passed away on June 29, 2024, in Barrington, surrounded by her loved ones. She was the beloved daughter of Anthony and Josephine Kurcharski and cherished sister to Arthur, Robert and Geraldine, grandmother to Jasen all preceding her in death.

Anita is survived by her loving husband of 65 years, Edward Zabielski; her children Lisa (Michael), Tina (Joseph), Scott (Lisa), and Jeffrey (Kathryn); her grandchildren Megan (Nicholas), Áine, Allen (Michelle), Alexandra, Stephanie (Zachary), Jake, Faith, and Cody; her great-granddaughter Maren; and a host of extended family and friends who will cherish her memory forever. Their home was a sanctuary of love and Catholic values, deeply influenced by Anita's steadfast faith and her commitment to instilling these values in her children and grandchildren.

Anita attended Lourdes High School in Chicago, where she immersed herself in music, the piano club, chorus, and band. Graduating in 1958, she embarked on a diverse career, from local delis and bakeries to the Match Corporation of America. On November 8, 1958, she married the love of her life, Edward J. Zabielski, with whom she shared a life filled with love and devotion.

Anita's professional journey saw her follow Edward's military career, contributing as a teletype operator and office worker before pursuing her passion for music education, earning a master's degree. Settling in South Holland in 1964, Anita transitioned to a successful career in real estate in 1976, where her dedication and expertise shone through, earning her accolades and respect among colleagues and clients alike. In 1992, Anita and Edward relocated to Wauconda, Illinois, where they continued to nurture their family bonds and create lasting memories at their homes in Wauconda and Iron River, Michigan.

As a Broker/Owner of her own company, Anita served as the 2007 Illinois State President of the Women's Council of Realtors, 2010 Region II Vice President and the 2007 Illinois State Member of the Year, and served on various boards and committees, including the Realtor Association of Northwest Chicagoland.

Anita embraced life with gusto, cherishing every moment spent with family and friends. She was known for her warmth, generosity, and ability to connect with people from all walks of life. Her passion for community extended beyond her professional endeavors, as she actively participated in church activities, charitable organizations, and local events.

Anita's zest for life was infectious, as she remained actively engaged in her passions—reading, traveling, and spending cherished moments with her family. She seamlessly integrated modern technology into her life, staying connected with her grandchildren and the world around her.

Anita's legacy is one of unwavering faith, resilience, and love. She leaves behind a family and community deeply touched by her warmth, wisdom, and compassion.
