Ann E. D’Ascanio, 96, of Lake Geneva, WI, passed away Friday, January 26, 2018 at Good Shepherd Hospital, Barrington. She was born in Fairview, IL on September 19, 1921 to the late Guiseppe and Maria (nee Maddaluna) Commiso.
She married her husband, Louis D’Ascanio, on November 3, 1946 in Chicago. He preceded her in death in 1989. They made their home in Niles and raised three children. Ann and Louis moved to Lake Geneva in 1988 after retirement. She decided to made Lake Geneva home after Louis passed and stayed in the same condo until last October.
Ann enjoyed her friends, cooking, playing cards, Dean Martin’s music, and crocheting. Old John Wayne movies can still be found at her place. She prayed for everyone fervently and loved her family more than anything, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Ann is survived by her children, Ida Jean (Paul) Stanek, Gary (Roxana) D’Ascanio; grandchildren, Paul (Carrie) Stanek, Jessica D’Ascanio, and Mark D’Ascanio; great grandchildren, Paul Edwin Louis Stanek and Austin Stanek; brother, Louis Cammiso; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her son, Daniel Frank D’Ascanio and siblings, Ralph, Tony, Clara, Mamie, Mildred, Louise, John, Mary, and Frank.
Visitation will be Monday, January 29, 2018 from 4 pm until 8 pm at Davenport Family Funeral Home and Crematory, 419 E. Terra Cotta Ave. (Rte. 176), Crystal Lake. Mass will be Tuesday at 10:30 am at Ss Peter and Paul Catholic Church, 410 N. First St., Cary, with a visitation starting at 9:30 am at the church.
Burial will follow at Windridge Memorial Park, Cary.
