Ann Elizabeth Simms

Ann Elizabeth Simms, 101, of Lake Zurich, IL, formerly of Contoocook, NH, passed away peacefully on February 10, 2023 with her son and daughter-in-law by her side. She was born in Baltimore, MD on June 22, 1921 to the late Thomas Tydings and Helen (nee Gourley) Hildebrandt.

Before moving to Illinois in 2022, Ann was an active member of St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church and the Women’s Club in Hopkinton, NH. Through the Women’s Club, she volunteered much of her time to Dial-A-Ride, an organization built to provide senior citizens with transportation to appointments and everyday errands. In 2022, Ann was presented the Boston Post Cane given to the oldest resident in the town of Hopkinton.  Ann and Charles William Simms, were married on January 17, 1942 in Ft. Mead, MD and celebrated 51 eventful years of marriage before his passing in 1993.

Ann is survived by her son, Robert Tydings (Margaret “Midge”) (nee Miller) Simms, daughter-in-law Kathy (nee O’Brien) Simms; grandchildren, Kristen, Whitney, Heather, Kourtney, Ashley, Conner, Caitlin and Clare; and many loving great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.

Along with her husband, Ann was preceded in death by her sons, Charles William Simms, Jr (also known as C. William Simms, Jr.) (2014) and Richard Thomas Simms (2017).

Services will be held at a later date in Hopkinton, NH.
