Anna Marie Welder

Anna Marie Welder, 75, of Crystal Lake, IL, passed away on October 28, 2026, in Barrington, IL.

Anna was born on March 28, 1951, in Linton, North Dakota, to Frank and Christine (Schatz) Meier. She attended Zeeland High School and went on to earn her degree in medical technology from the University of North Dakota. She enjoyed a successful career in laboratory medicine, serving as General Manager of NICL Laboratories for 48 years.

On February 20, 1971, Anna married Raymond Welder. Having grown up on farms just seven miles apart in North Dakota, neither could have imagined that they would one day share a lifetime together.

Anna was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She was selfless, loyal, and always willing to put others before herself. She had a way of making sure everyone was taken care of, and her organized nature meant that very little was ever left to chance. Her faith was an important part of her life and guided the way she loved and cared for those around her.

Above all, Anna loved her family. She was the ultimate baseball mom and grandma, attending more than 1,000 baseball games over the years. Whether cheering from the sidelines at a game or sitting in the audience for a performance or show, Anna was always there. She took great pride in her sons and grandsons and never missed an opportunity to support them. Her family could always count on her to show up.

Anna loved to travel, whether returning home to North Dakota for frequent visits or exploring faraway destinations such as New Zealand and Africa, where she enjoyed a safari adventure. She also had a heart for helping others and gave her time volunteering at the Grafton Food Pantry. She enjoyed the simple pleasures of life, including taking long walks with her beloved dog, Missy.

Anna will be remembered for her unwavering faith, her generous heart, and the countless ways she showed her love through her actions. She was always present for the people who mattered most to her, and her family will forever cherish the love and memories they shared.

Anna is survived by her loving husband of 55 years, Raymond; her sons, Bryan (Angela) Welder and Joel (Dana) Welder; her five grandsons, William, Matthew, Quinn, Alexander, and Andrew; her brothers, Steve (Susan) Meier and Robert (Irene) Meier; and her beloved dog, Missy.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Christine; her siblings, Mary Bollinger, Donald Meier, and Rodney Meier; her niece, Janelle Rae Meier; her nephew, Chad Nein; and her brother-in-law, Lionel Estenson.
