Anne Andrzejewski

Anne Andrzejewski, 77, passed away peacefully on March 2, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family. She was born on August 12, 1948, in Waterford, Ireland to the late William and Margaret Shanahan.

As a young woman, Anne studied in London, where fate stepped in at a dance. There she met her future husband, David, who was serving in the Air Force while Anne pursued her studies in nursing school. Their chance meeting blossomed into a lifelong love. Anne and David were married on February 7, 1970, in her beloved hometown of Waterford, beginning a marriage grounded in devotion, partnership, and deep affection.

In September of 1970, Anne and David embarked on a new chapter, moving to the United States to build their life together. They celebrated 56 beautiful years of marriage and were blessed with 2 children and further blessed with 3 grandchildren.

Anne dedicated herself to a career in nursing, caring for countless patients with compassion, skill, and quiet strength. Her commitment to her profession led her to further her education, and she proudly earned her bachelor’s degree from University of St. Francis, demonstrating her determination and lifelong dedication to learning.

Anne had a gift for finding joy in life’s simple pleasures. She loved to shop and took great pride in finding the best bargains, often sharing her treasured finds with family and friends. Her enthusiasm made even an ordinary outing special.

Though she built a beautiful life in America, Ireland forever remained in her heart. Anne cherished returning home to visit family and treasured the time spent reconnecting with loved ones. She also found great happiness in Cocoa Beach, a place she dearly loved. Anne delighted in bringing her Irish family to visit, eager to introduce them to friends and the sunny shores she had come to call a second home. Those gatherings were filled with storytelling, laughter, and the blending of two worlds she held so dear.

Anne will be deeply missed by her devoted husband, David; children, Laura (Darik Barseth) Groth, David W. Andrzejewski; grandchildren, Kaitlin and Connor Groth, Cole Andrzejewski; siblings, John (Noreen) Shanahan, Billy (Pat) Shanahan, Declan (Breda) Shanahan, Margaret (Ray) Power, Breda (Paul) Power; and by many loving nieces, nephews and extended family.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Visitation will be Friday, March 6, 2026 from 4 PM until 8 PM at Davenport Family Funeral Home and Crematory, 941 S. Old Rand Rd., Lake Zurich, IL 60047. Interment will be private.
