Anne Lovell Sebastyan, 82, of Hoffman Estates, passed away February 7th, 2024 at Northwest Community Hospital, Arlington Heights, IL.

She was born June 30, 1941 in Frederick, Maryland to J. Rudolph and Frances V. Horine Lovell.

The family, including her loving brother John Lovell, lived on the “Right is Right” farm in Jefferson, Maryland and attended St. Paul Lutheran Church.  She played the piano for Sunday School, joined the choir and was a member of the Luther League.

An active member of Jefferson girl’s 4H club, in 1961 she won a trip to the 4H Club Congress in Chicago.  At this, she was awarded the National Recreation Honor and a scholarship, along with Maryland 4H All Stars as a life member.

Attending Frederick High School, she was very active in her school’s newspaper, being its editor -in -chief, in Future Teachers of America and a member of Tri-Hi Y (high school sorority associated with YMCA).

After graduating in 1963, she attended Washington College in Chestertown, Maryland where she would meet her future husband.

There, she was copy reader for the college newspaper, a member of the chorus, a soprano in the chamber music groups, intramural basketball and volleyball, and secretary of the Lutheran Club.

She would attend the Maryland Institute of Art in Baltimore and Walters Modeling Academy during the summers.

Achieving a BA degree, she went on to teach English and Reading in Frederick County’s new consolidated Linganore High School 1963-1968.  Also, was a member of the National Education Association.

She also attended Towson State Teachers College, University of Maryland, Baltimore, and Harper College.

She and her brother travelled to England, Scotland, and Wales on a 19 day trip flying TWA in 1965.

From 1968 to 1971, she worked for TWA Dulles as Customer Service Agent Training Co-Ordinator, then Grooming Co-Ordinator for Dulles (IAD), National (DCA), and Baltimore (BWI).  During this time, she met many famous people including astronauts.

October of 1971 she married Charles J. Sebastyan in St John Catholic Church, Frederick, MD.

As a married couple they lived in Danbury, CT; Berea, OH; and settled in Hoffman Estates, IL.

In 1986, Anne joined the Barrington Community Associates of the Art Institute of Chicago.  She was on its board 1987-2017, holding several positions: secretary, board chair, ex -officio, program chair, seminar series chair, and publicity chair.  She enjoyed the art trips and lectures with her friends.

She was on the PTA board for Thomas Jefferson elementary school, Carl Sandburg Jr High, and the Fremd band booster’s board.

She was a Cub Scout den leader and member of the Signal Hill District Scout Council.

In 1991, she was a realtor at Marc Realty, Inverness.

Anne was a member of three book clubs: Inverness, Des Plaines Literary Review, and Barrington AAUW.

After a battle with pancreatic bile duct cancer in 2008, she triumphed and lived a full life enjoying her grandchildren.

Her children and grandchildren were the highlights of her life; Anne Kirchner (Joel), Mary Lattas (Eric),  Charles Sebastyan, Jr (Katie), and John Sebastyan.

Grandchildren are Kayla Lattas, Brendan Kirchner, Jackson Kirchner, Logan Kirchner, Jessica Sebastyan and Kelly Sebastyan.  She is also survived by her brother, John R. (Johanna) Lovell; nieces, Laura (Adam) Falcona, and Carrie (Bob) Kopcak; nephew, Jonathan (Kelly Anne) Lovell; and great nephews, John Richard, Jack, and Ryan.

Visitation will be 4-7pm Wednesday, February 14 at Davenport Family Funeral Home, 149 W. Main St. (Lake Cook Road) Barrington.  Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11am Thursday, February 15 at St. Anne Catholic Church, 120 N. Ela Street, Barrington.  There will be visitation at the church from 10am until the mass.  Burial in St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Cemetery will follow.
