Arlene Frances Schoenherr (nee Costigan) of Barrington. Born January 4, 1935 in Rochester, NY, she passed away March 25, 2023 in Barrington. Arlene is survived by her children, Daniel Schoenherr of Lyons, CO, David (Eileen) Schoenherr of Raymond, ME, Donna (Otto Dichtl) Schoenherr of London UK, Douglas (Kitty) Schoenherr of Littleton, CO, and Diane (Dana) Schmidt of Cary, IL; eight grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister Dorothy (the late Walter) Steidle of Charlottesville, VA.
She was preceded in death by her husband Jerry, her sister Mary and her parents Francis and Suzette Costigan. Arlene was a 1956 graduate of Nazareth College and received her Master of Library Science in 1976 from SUNY Geneseo.
In addition to raising five children, Arlene was previously a computer programmer at Wright Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton, Ohio and later a math teacher and school librarian in the Webster and Greece school districts of New York state. She was an avid reader and read thousands of books in her lifetime. After their retirement, Arlene and Jerry spent 15 years in Loveland, Colorado. Arlene was a resident of the Garlands of Barrington for the past 13 years where she had many cherished friendships and greatly enjoyed participating in water and fitness classes.
Memorial visitation will be 9 am until the time of the mass at 10 am Friday, April 14, 2023 at St. Anne Catholic Church, 120 N. Ela St. (Corner of Franklin and Ela Sts.) Barrington. Private inurnment will follow in St. Michael the Archangel Cemetery, Palatine.
