August Tuit

August “Gus” Tuit, 92, currently of Crystal Lake, passed away on April 30, 2023.   He was born in Paterson, NJ on March 12, 1931, to John and Gertrude (Glas) Tuit.

A veteran of the Air Force, Gus went on to be a pilot for United Airlines for over 30 years.  On January 16, 1960, he married Laura Anne Drake.  They were married 53 years before her passing in 2013.

Upon retirement, Gus and Laura moved to Greenbank, WA and enjoyed traveling, nature, and simply a slower pace of life.

Gus is survived by his children, Steve (Sherry) Tuit and Scott Tuit; grandchildren, Lauren (Danny Niemi), Jonathan Tuit, and Paige Tuit; and great grandchildren, Logan, Liam, Livia, and Nathan.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, May 6, from 2 until the time of a service at 4:30pm at Davenport Family Funeral Home and Crematory, 419 E. Terra Cotta Ave., Crystal Lake.
