Barbara J. Mikels, 76, of Crystal Lake passed away February 4, 2015. She was born July 7, 1938 to Roy and Jean (nee Sweet) Loya in Chicago.
Barbara was a stay-at-home mom and later became a dispatcher for the Crystal Lake Police Department. After retiring, she loved to travel; Ireland and Alaska being her favorite places. She loved bowling and playing Tripoly with her very dear friends.
She is survived by her ex-husband, John Mikels; daughter, Kellie (Bob) Mikels-Makowski; grandson, Phillip Makowski; son, Fred Mikels; granddaughters, Natalie and April Mikels; and sisters, Betty (Mel) Soderlind, Mickey D’Angelo, and Valerie Rhode.
