Bernard "Bernie" Uccello

Bernard "Bernie" Uccello, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully on June 2, 2025, surrounded by family. He was 89 years old.

Born on December 15, 1935, in Chicago, Illinois, Bernie was the cherished son of Christine and Joseph Uccello. A graduate of Lane Tech High School, he went on to establish a successful career as a Precision Machinist, admired for his skill, dedication, and craftsmanship.

In October 1956, Bernie married the love of his life, Mary H. Uccello (née Dalton). Together they created a warm and loving home in Morton Grove, where they raised their three children. In 1997, Bernie and Mary retired to Woodstock, Illinois, where they enjoyed a quieter life filled with family and the simple joys of retirement.

Bernie had a lifelong love of building model ships and trains, a hobby that reflected his patience and attention to detail. He also enjoyed camping, hiking, and spending time outdoors—always finding peace in nature especially in the mountains. A true family man, Bernie never turned down a good pizza and loved gathering around the table with those he loved most.

Bernie is survived by his devoted wife, Mary, and their loving family: children Mary Louise Uccello, James Uccello, and Joan Jones (Don); grandchildren Jennifer Jones, Jennifer Hack (Tony Doran), Zach Jones, and Kerrick Jones; and ten cherished great-grandchildren—Michael, Alex, Gracie, Sean, Samantha, Joseph, Draeden, Tara, Alexia, and Leah.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Christine and Joseph, and his sisters, Catherine and Louise.

Bernie will be remembered for his steady presence, deep love for family, and quiet generosity. He leaves behind a legacy of integrity, kindness, and devotion that will continue to live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, June 8, from 3:00–8:00 PM at Davenport Family Funeral Home in Crystal Lake, Illinois. A funeral mass will follow on Monday, June 9, at 1 PM at Resurrection Catholic Church in Woodstock with a visitation starting at 12 PM at church.
