Bernard J. Smith

Bernard was born December 21, 1938 in Chicago to Bernard and Anne Smith. He passed away peacefully September 28, 2017 in Arlington Heights.
Bernard is survived by his wife of 49 years, Carolyn; children, Laura (Jonathan) Derouin, Brian (Pam) Smith, and Jeanne (Matthew) Crawford; and grandchildren, Katie, Emily, Will, Jack, Sean, and Luke. He was preceded in death by his brother Thomas P. Smith; sister, Rosemary Anichini; and his parents.
Bernard had a distinguished career in finance, and was the Chief Financial Officer for Knowles Electronics, Inc., in Itasca, IL before he retired. But anyone who knew Bernie knew that his focus was always his family. He was devoted to his wife, children, and eventually, grandchildren, and made it a point to be present at every sporting event or school play he possibly could.
Visitation will be 9am until the funeral mass at 11am, Monday, Octorber 2 at St. Anne Catholic Church, 120 N. Ela Street, Barrington. Interment will be private.
