Bradley James Hewitt

Bradley James Hewitt, 33, of Geneva, passed away unexpectedly on August 9, 2026. He was born on March 7, 1993 in Oak Lawn, Illinois to Patricia and James Hewitt.

Brad found great joy and purpose in his work as a baker at Gather Bakery in Geneva. Baking was more than a job to him—it was an expression of his creativity and his appreciation for good, honest food. He also ran the Farmer’s Market in Batavia on behalf of the bakery, where he enjoyed sharing his passion for quality ingredients and the farm-to-table philosophy with others.

A true “salt of the earth” kind of person, Brad appreciated food in its most natural and wholesome form. He loved cooking and baking with organic, fresh ingredients and had a natural talent for blending spices and flavors in creative and unexpected ways. Whether he was preparing a meal or experimenting with a new recipe, Brad brought thoughtfulness, imagination, and heart to everything he made.

Brad also valued health and fitness. He enjoyed working out, eating healthy, and practicing karate, where he earned his orange belt. He took great pride in his appearance and was particular about his hair, always wanting to look his best. He was someone who paid attention to the details and took pride in how he presented himself.

An avid reader and lifelong learner, Brad could often be found immersed in a book. His interests ranged from fantasy, including The Lord of the Rings, to history and current events. He had a remarkable memory and an ability to retain an impressive amount of what he read and learned. He was deeply interested in politics and history and enjoyed discussing current events and the world around him.

Though Brad could sometimes have a rough exterior, those who knew him well knew there was a gentle heart underneath. A gentle giant, he had a special tenderness for animals and loved them dearly, especially his dogs. His compassion for animals was an important part of who he was.

Brad is the loving son of Patti Hewitt and Jim (Sandy) Hewitt; beloved brother of Erica (BJ) Lewis, JR Hewitt, Jenny Hewitt, Joey Rocuskie; cherished uncle “Big Strong Man” of Bobby and Kaitlyn. He is further survived by many loving aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Visitation will be Saturday, August 15, 2026 from 2 PM – 8 PM, at Davenport Family Funeral Home and Crematory, 419 E. Terra Cotta Ave. (Rte. 176), Crystal Lake, IL 60014.

Visitation will resume on Sunday, August 16, 2026 from 10 AM until the funeral service at 11:30 AM at the funeral home. Interment will be private.
