Bruce Allen Cherry, of Bourbonnais, formerly of Cary, passed away Friday, January 9, 2026 at the age of 71.
He was born June 28, 1954 in Chicago, the son of the late Vincent and Seraphine (Agerone) Cherry.
Bruce was a 1972 graduate of Foreman High School.
He spent his career in the automotive industry, starting as a porter and working his way up to Service Director for Weil Cadillac in Libertyville, where he served for more than 30 years. Bruce was also a proud member of Unico Italian Club of Chicago.
He will be fondly remembered by his friends and family for his great generosity and kindness, and for always being ready for a celebration with a Manhattan in hand. We will carry on the tradition of his favorite witty one-liners: “Don’t take any wooden nickels,” “Better days are comin’,” and “Jak się masz?”
Bruce is survived by his children, Jennifer Cherry, Jon (Victoria) Cherry, and Juliana (Sean) Canaday; his grandchildren, Gianna and Benjamin Cherry, Aden Wohlfeil, and James and Dominic Canaday; siblings, Dolores Selesky and Vincent Cherry. He is also survived by the mother of his children, Jan Piazza; and his significant other, Marcia Eichman; beloved niece, nephews and cousins.
Visitation will be held Thursday, January 15, 2026 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 1:00 p.m. at Davenport Family Funeral Home and Crematory, 149 W Main St (Lake-Cook Rd) Barrington. Parking is available in the funeral home lot, the Barrington city lot, or across the street at Jewel-Osco. Burial will follow at Windridge Memorial Park, Cary.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Bruce's memory to the American Heart Association.
