Carol Hayes Heck passed away peacefully at her home with her husband and daughter by her side. She was born in Chicago, Illinois to Ray and Mildred Koch Johnson.
She was employed at Baxter and Woodman Civil and Environmental Engineers of Crystal Lake for 25 years until her retirement on May 31 1994. She enjoyed playing bridge with her lady friends at the Crystal Lake Country Club. After her retirement, she and her husband traveled extensively around the world.
She enjoyed having a cocktail every evening with her husband and her pet cockapoo dog, Shadow.
Carol is survived by her loving husband, George Heck; daughter, Beth Hayes (George) Wirth; son, Peter John (Susan) Hayes; step-daughters, Linda Lohmann, Cathy Aney, and Nancy Ogden; grandchildren, Sara Hayes (David) Simmons; Jacob (Christine) Wirth, Ali Hayes (Matt) Bauer, and Sam (Mallory) Wirth; great granddaughter, Mariella Simmons; and niece, Lynn Kellogg (Bruce) Behrns. She is preceded in death by her parents; Ray and Mildred Koch Johnson, sister; Patricia Kellogg; first husband John Hayes; niece Laura Kellogg Kipping, and nephew Dan Kellogg.

A memorial service to honor and lovingly remember Carol will be held on Saturday, June 29th, 2024 at 11:30am at St Paul United Church of Christ at 485 Woodstock Street in Crystal Lake, IL.
