Carol Ann Horning

Carol A. Horning, the Queen of celebrations, parties and get-togethers. She loved company, laughter and a great vodka gimlet.

Beloved mother, devoted grandmother and great grandmother who packed more joy, laughter and love into her 84 years than anyone thought possible. She passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 1st, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of being a trusted confidant, generous, loving, and a source of wisdom to everyone she embraced.

Carol was born in Piqua, Ohio on December 12, 1941, to parents Albert F. and Jean A. Schumacher. She was a woman who fought all types of battles and taught her children to stand up for what they believe in. Carol spent her days working, enjoying family time, going to the casino (aka church) hosting Tuesday night dinners, & vacationing.

She was a loving guide, firm however understanding, honest, and the life of all get togethers. She was simply known as grandma: the giver of endless snacks, candy or anything else your parents said no to. Just ask grandma and the answer is yes. She is the keeper of secrets and a funny storyteller. She taught her children and grandchildren that you need to take risks. If you don’t ask the questions, the answer will always be no. From Carol, we learned the importance of a great laugh & having a close family.

Carol is survived by her children, Michael Horning, Christine Graham, Jennifer & Clint Loew, Bridget Horning, and Heather Horning; her grandchildren, Ryan Horning, Jamison Horning, Camryn Horning, Nicole & Devin Boss, Katherine Graham, Grace Horning, Isabella Martinez, and Gavin Martinez; her great grandchildren, Paisley Boss, Sawyer Boss, and great granddaughter on the way, Scarlett. Finally, she is also survived by her two best pet friends, Stella & Francis.

She was preceded in death by her brother Donald A. Schumacher, her son James Horning, her daughter in law Julie A. Horning, and her great grandson Colton Boss.

Her family will carry on all the traditions of her Tuesday night dinners, holiday get togethers, having a close-knit family and creating a life full of fun memories. Cheers to mom & Grandma! We love you, hugs & kisses forever! Your amazing flame will never diminish!
