Carolyn Peterson, 93, of Lake Zurich, Illinois, passed away peacefully on November 15, 2025, with her family gathered closely around her. Her gentle passing was a reflection of the life she lived—quietly strong, surrounded by love, and rooted in deep devotion to her family.
Born on July 3, 1932, in Chicago, Carolyn spent her entire life in the Chicagoland area. She grew up alongside her beloved twin sister, Marolyn Jewett, with whom she shared an extraordinary lifelong bond. The two were inseparable from childhood through adulthood, and Marolyn’s passing left a space in Carolyn’s heart that she carried lovingly for the rest of her life.
Carolyn married Robert “Bob” Peterson, the love of her life, and together they built a marriage centered on loyalty, humor, partnership, and unwavering commitment. Their 64 years together were filled with joy, resilience, and countless family memories. When Bob passed in 2018, a chapter closed, but Carolyn kept his spirit close, speaking of him often and cherishing their decades together.
Carolyn was a loving mother of Raymond Peterson (Courtney), Doreen Oleszczuk, Edward Peterson (Angeline), and James Peterson (Janet). She was a beloved grandmother of Lindsay Peterson, Lisa Peterson, Stephanie Peterson, Grady Condill (Madison), Diana Tang (Kingsley), Richard Oleszczuk, Matthew Oleszczuk, Robert Peterson (Nicole), Josh Peterson, Alex Peterson (Linda), Chris Peterson, and the late Ryan Peterson (deceased 2025). She was the proud great grandmother of Oliver Tang, Ethan Tang, Lucas Tang, Brock Peterson, and Callan Condill.
Beautiful both inside and out, Carolyn was a loving, compassionate woman who placed her family at the center of her world. She had a warm, social spirit and formed friendships effortlessly wherever she went. She was a talented seamstress and ceramic maker, who loved babies, shopping, Rummikub, giving gifts, Fannie Mae double chocolates, plants, collies, Rose hand lotion, Clinique lotion, and buying pastries at Jewel on her motorized shopping cart. Her kindness, grace, and gentle presence touched countless lives, leaving a legacy that will continue through her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
A visitation will be held on Sunday, November 23, at Davenport Funeral Home, 941 S. Old Rand Rd., Lake Zurich, Illinois, beginning at 2:30 PM, with a service to follow at 4 PM.
Carolyn will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew her.
