Carolyn A. Sigmund, 91, of Crystal Lake passed away on Sunday, October 30, 2022. She was born on November 5, 1930, in Chicago to Fredrick and Anna Kraus.

On June 28, 1952, she married Albert Sigmund. Carolyn had a huge heart for everyone, but especially children. She taught pre-school for twenty-five years at the Methodist Church Nursery and Sunday School. You could often find her at the library or local bookstores reading to children. She was the neighborhood mom to many, supplying love, support and friendship. As her own children grew, she welcomed grandchildren and great grandchildren and had plenty of room in her heart for each one.

She is survived by her husband of over 70 years, Al; children, Dave (Patricia), Larry (Jean Ann), Gregg (Jeanne), Nancy (Thom) Palmer, Laura (Dan) Birr; grandchildren, Mike (Kemery), Mandy (John) Peterson, Nick (Angela), Shana, Jake, Chris (Sonja), Danny (Shannon), Liz (Jon) Womble, Jessica (Bobby) Clancy, Brittany (Tobin) Davies, Ryan Palmer, Melissa (Josh) Cole, and Freddie Birr; and great grandchildren, Riley, Benjamin, and Josie, Kai and Marley, Eloise, Eileen, and Miles, Connor and Charlotte, and Caroline; and nieces and nephews, Keith, Kenneth, Craig (Yuko) and Karen (Jim) Rohder.

Carolyn was preceded in death by her son, Wayne and her brother, Fred (Marlyn) Kraus.

A visitation will be held Monday, November 7, from 9am until a service at 11am at Davenport Family Funeral Home, 419 E. Terra Cotta Ave., Crystal Lake. Burial will follow at Crystal Lake Memorial Park.
