Carrie J. Ensign, 97, of Crystal Lake, IL passed away on February 1, 2018 at Crystal Pines Health Care. She was born on Sept. 16, 1920 to August and Emma Japp.
She proudly graduated from Kennard High School in 1938. She married Rolland C. Ensign of McHenry, IL in 1940 and lived in McHenry until moving to Harvard, IL in 1959.
In later years, she resided in Woodstock, IL and finally Crystal Lake, IL. Carrie lived an active life as a housewife, farm wife, nurse’s aide at the Woodstock Residence Nursing Home and as an assembler at Autotrol in Crystal Lake, IL.
Carrie was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Crystal Lake, IL. She enjoyed travelling and watching the Chicago Cubs, Bears and Bulls. She was a supporter of numerous veterans’ organizations, having 3 sons, 2 brothers, and a nephew that proudly wear our country’s uniform.
Carrie is survived by a son, Thomas E. Ensign, Sr. of Crystal Lake, IL; four grandchildren, Tammy K. Williams, Thomas E. Ensign Jr., Max Ensign and Zhania Ensign; six great-grandchildren, Ken (Lachel) Williams Jr., Michael Williams, Kaylyn Ensign, Kaydan Ensign, Alex Ensign and Everly Ensign; 2 great-great-grandchildren, Ivory Martha Dickman-Williams and Kal-El Norman Williams; and by several nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceeded in death by her parents, husband, 2 sons, George R. and James L. Ensign and several brothers and sisters.
The Committal Service and Inurnment will be at Mt. Auburn Cemetery, Harvard, IL , 11am, Saturday, April 21, 2018.
