Charles Tilford Keller
March 29, 1973 - April 3, 2026
In Loving Memory of Charlie
Charlie passed away on April 3, 2026. He will be profoundly missed by all who knew him.
Charlie was a kind, generous, and selfless man who would give anything he had if it meant helping someone else. He carried a quiet strength and often kept his emotions to himself, yet he was full of energy and continually pushed himself to show up for others—whether caring for his father, supporting his daughter, or helping anyone in need. Those who truly knew him understood the depth of his heart. Beneath that quiet exterior was a compassionate, generous, and loving man with a truly kind soul, whose dry sense of humor, those closest to him came to know and love.
His generosity showed in both big and small ways. Where others might pass someone by, Charlie would stop. If he saw someone in need, he would give whatever he had—often without hesitation. His home was always open, and he never hesitated to offer a place to stay to anyone in need. He cared for his father with dedication over many years, standing by him faithfully throughout his life.
Charlie was a devoted father who rarely missed a game, proudly supporting Paige in all of her sports. He loved spending time with her, whether watching her grow into a strong and beautiful young woman or heading to the gym together to get basketball shots up. He enjoyed staying active and working out.
He dedicated his career to public service through his work with the City of Harvard, providing for his family with commitment and responsibility.
He is survived by his daughter, Paige, and his partner of seven years, Michelle, who were his world, just as he was theirs. He is survived by his sister, Julia, with whom he shared a close and meaningful bond, and his brother-in-law, Rick Sommer. He also held a special place in the life of Ryan, Michelle’s son, who was grateful for the support, guidance, and kindness Charlie gave him.
He will be remembered with love by his extended family members.
Leonardo, Michelle’s dog, also became his, and he cared for him—bringing him to life in new ways, just as Leonardo did for him.
Charlie loved his family. He had a fierce and protective love for his daughter and called Michelle the love of his life—and to Michelle, he was the love of her life—a love they shared and showed each day through care, loyalty, and steady presence.
He will be remembered for the way he loved—quietly, steadily, and in a way that made others feel safe, cared for, and at ease.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Joyce, his father, Vernon, his brother, Vincent, and his friends, John, Steve, and Rich.
He will be missed by his family and friends, especially Dan, Casey, Rob, Jeff, Erik, and "Captain Morgan".
We find comfort in the promise that he is now in the light, free from pain.
He was deeply loved, and that love will remain with all who carry him in their hearts.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in Charlie's name can be made to the Crystal Lake Food Pantry, 42 East Street, Crystal Lake, IL 60014
