Charles M. Walsh

April 1, 1932 — February 2, 2018

Charles Melville Walsh, born April 1, 1932; died February 2 2018. He was born in Joliet Illinois to Fred & Catherine (grey) Walsh.

After graduating from Evanston Township High School, he attended Lake Forest College, played football for 4 years and was inducted into the Lake Forest football hall of fame.

After graduating, he married the woman of his dreams-Susan Stanley- and enlisted in the United States Marine Corps where he served proudly.

He embarked on a long, . successful career as a real estate mortgage banker for a number of respected Chicago area banking institutions. After 30 years, he established his own appraisal business, which he operated until retirement.

He was an avid golfer, a voracious reader, history buff, movie aficionado, life long Bear fan, passionate traveler who loved his winters in Islamorada Florida with his bride Susan. He spent hours in the sun, walking, reading and enjoying retirement.

His life’s portrait was his family, his unwavering commitment and love to Susie,  his passion. For 64 years, side- by- side and guided by faith, they traveled thru life with family, always family, their motivation.

Charles M. Walsh was a uniquely simple man, in an increasingly complicated world.  His moral compass always pointed toward one name - Susan, and one word-  family

He is survived by  his loving wife Susan, their 9 children,  Michael (Janie), Charley (Michele), Kevin (Katharine), Stephen (Maura), Joseph (Helene), Katie (Paul), Matthew (Eileen), Andy (Lynda), and Susie; and sister, Elizabeth Bliss-Durkee.

Also survived by 19 grandchildren: Brian, Erin (Christian), Lauren, Charles Melville, Derek, Kameron, Kait (Kevin), Kelsey (Preston), Joseph, Megan, Patrick, Hannah, Michael, Laura, Connor, Jack, Taylor, John, Charles and 4 great grandchildren: Bella, Matilda, William and Jude
