Charlotte Marie Heuer

Charlotte Marie Heuer, of Crystal Lake, passed away surrounded by her loving family on Saturday, March 21, 2026 at the age of 86.

She was born August 22, 1939 in Chicago, the daughter of the late Michael and Frances (nee Filipiak) Stopka.

Charlotte was united in marriage to Richard Heuer on September 20, 1958. Together they shared a life dedicated to love, faith, and family. Their love was deep, steady, and enduring; something words can hardly capture.

A dedicated homemaker, Charlotte created a household filled with warmth, comfort, during the holidays and special events with the unmistakable aroma of home-cooked meals that brought everyone together. Her kitchen was a place of joy, where recipes were shared and traditions were honored. Her cooking connected generations and kept family traditions alive along with sharing her proud Polish heritage to her kids and grandkids.

Charlotte truly had a heart of gold. Her love for her family was boundless, and she always put them first. This was especially true in the deep and special bond she shared not only with her children, but with her grandchildren. She had a way of making each one feel protected and understood and was always ready to stand in their corner and make sure they knew they were never alone.

More than anything, she was the heart and protector of her family. She loved fiercely and without hesitation, always watching over those she held dear with quiet strength and unwavering devotion. She was the kind of person who showed up, no matter the circumstance, attending events, supporting milestones, and offering her presence even when it wasn’t easy.

She carried herself with a rare grace. She was the strongest person many knew, yet also one of the gentlest. She was always kind, always loving, and never one to anger. She had a natural humor about her, often unintentionally funny in a way that brought light and laughter to those around her.

Charlotte found joy in life’s simple pleasures. She loved playing games, whether it was cards, Rummikub, or memory games, at which she had a remarkable talent. She also cherished her outings, especially visits to Arby’s and Around the Clock. Places that were made special not by the food alone, but by the time spent together.

She was a loving parent and a proud and cherished grandmother to grandchildren who will forever carry her memory in their hearts. She had a way of making every conversation meaningful, often ending visits or phone calls with the sweet and familiar sound of kisses or signing cards with “XOXO.” Small gestures that will be remembered forever.

A faithful member of the Catholic community, Charlotte found strength and peace in her faith, which guided her life and relationships.

She leaves behind a legacy of love, strength, laughter, and unwavering devotion to family. She will be remembered as someone who loved deeply, and protected fiercely. She was truly one of a kind, and she will be missed more than words can express.

In addition to her beloved husband, Charlotte is survived by her children, Edward Heuer and Laura Nevers; and her grandchildren, Casey Heuer, and Breanne, Grant, and Chloe Nevers.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and sister, Geraldine Raymond.
