Charlotte L. Szczesny, 95, passed away on August 29, 2026. She was born November 17, 1930, in Chicago, to Stanley and Rosalie (Jarocki) Olejnik.
Charlotte was raised in Chicago, where she later met Sylvester Szczesny. The two married and built a life together filled with family, travel, and many wonderful memories. Sylvester preceded her in death in 2003.
Charlotte and Sylvester loved to travel and enjoyed seeing new places together throughout their marriage. They made their home in Inverness for many years before moving to Buffalo Grove. Later in life, as Charlotte required a little more help, she moved to Crystal Lake to be closer to family and receive the care she needed.
More than anything, Charlotte loved her family. Her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren were an important part of her life, and she treasured the time she was able to spend with them.
Charlotte is survived by her daughters, Janice Hansen (Robert) of Village of Lakewood and Joyce Agostino (Donald) of Palatine; her grandchildren, Ryan Johnson (Valen), Allison Johnson, Ingrid Hansen, and Eric Hansen (Sarah); and her great-grandchildren, Hannah Johnson, Vivian Hansen, Luke Hansen, and Rosalie Hansen.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Sylvester; and her parents, Stanley and Rosalie Olejnik.
Charlotte will be remembered for her love of family, the life she shared with Sylvester, and the many memories created over 95 years. She will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved her.
A visitation will be held on Friday, September 4, from 11 am until prayers at 12:45pm at Davenport Family Funeral Home and Crematory. Mass will follow at 1:30pm at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, 451 W. Terra Cotta Ave., Crystal Lake.
Entombment will be on Tuesday, September 8, at 11:30am at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Cemetery, Palatine.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the American Cancer Society.
