Christopher Michael McCreary, 49, of Ringwood, Illinois, passed away on December 18, 2025. He was born on August 15, 1976.
Chris was the devoted husband of Connie Lynn (Haines) McCreary, and together they shared 27 years of marriage. He was a proud and loving father to Bailie Jean McCreary and Ryley Christopher McCreary, who were the center of his world.
He is survived by his mother, Cynthia Jean Sikora (Bob); his father, Michael Nelson McCreary (Letty); his mother- and father-in-law, David and Patricia Haines; brothers Mathew Brent McCreary (Lindsay) and Adam Gordon McCreary; sisters Deanna Jean Stevens (Josh) and Rebekah Lauren Stevens (Dominick); sister-in-law Sadie Marie Griffiths (Jason); and many nieces and nephews: Taitum Sims (Coulson), Payton Flores (Jonatan), Zakary Stevens, Taylor Bachofner-Stevens, Rocksanne Stevens, Lucas Stevens, Mathew Brent McCreary Jr., Milah McCreary, Levi McCreary, Jayden McCreary, Sydney Griffiths, and Cooper Griffiths.
Chris was preceded in death by his grandparents Alice and Stuart Nelson McCreary, Delores Rindahl, and Ralph Rindahl Sr.; uncles Kevin Rindahl, Allen McCreary, and Neal McCreary; aunts Gail McCreary, Linda McCreary, and Vicky McCreary; and cousins June McCreary, Steven McCreary, Pam Barndt, and Ricky Sanders.
Chris loved sports and was a die-hard Chicago Bears fan. He enjoyed family picnics, running and competing in 5K races and Rugged Maniac events, lifting weights, and taking pride in mowing and caring for his lawn. He was a builder and fixer by nature and famously built a home with his own hands for his family in 2008. Above all else, his faith and relationship with God guided his life.
Chris was a loving husband and father who will be remembered for his sense of humor, infectious laugh, and the strength and determination he brought to everything he did. He pushed himself to overachieve and inspired others by the way he lived.
A visitation for Chris will be held at Davenport Family Funeral Home, 419 East Terra Cotta Ave, Crystal Lake, IL 60014, on Friday, December 26, beginning at 4 p.m., and followed by a Time of Sharing at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will resume the following morning, Saturday, December 27, at 11 a.m., with a 12 p.m. Time of Sharing and Service. Chris will be laid to rest in a private ceremony at Windridge Memorial Park and Nature Sanctuary.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
