Clea Ruby Galve

Clea Ruby Galve, age 61, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 18, 2025, with her loving family by her side.

Clea Ruby was born in Bacolod, Philippines on December 17, 1963. Clea was fondly called "baby" by the family. Growing up, she was known to be brave, a risk taker, smart, and sporty-minded. She was quiet and strong-willed, generous and had a soft heart for everyone around her. After graduating high school, she pursued a Bachelor of Science in biology with the dream of becoming a physician. She later pursued her Bachelor of Science in nursing with the highest honors. Clea is a fiercely dedicated mother to her three children, raising them to go on and achieve their dream profession. Family came first above all to Clea, a value she instilled in all those around her. The hole left by her absence is impossible to fill. 

Clea practiced as a registered nurse for 25 years. She loved and enjoyed every moment as a nurse and she worked in many different specialties including surgery, medical surgical, critical care, emergency and nursing leadership. Her nursing philosophy is to “ give everyone a chance to heal no matter what the situation.” Clea’s memory will be forever cherished by her family, friends and colleagues.

Clea Ruby is survived by her beloved husband of 33 years, Pedro Galve; her loving children, Irene (Neel) Potdar, Bridgette Galve, and Isiah Galve; brother Emilio Catague, sisters Maria Teresa Catague, Bernadette Cabalatungan, Cheryl Del Leon, many nephews, nieces, grand nephews and grandnieces.

She is preceded in death by her father Emilio Catague and her Mother Purita Catague.

A visitation for Clea Ruby will be held on Friday, June 27, 2025, from 2pm until 9pm at Davenport Family Funeral Home, 941 S. Old Rand Road, Lake Zurich, IL. A second visitation will be held the following morning at St. Anne Catholic Church, 120 Ela Street, Barrington, IL from 9am until the time of mass at 10:30am. Burial to follow at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Cemetery in Palatine, IL.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Clea Ruby’s name may be made to Children Home and Aid of Illinois.
