Clifford J. Grable, age 97, passed away peacefully on April 28, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family.

Born on December 17, 1928, in Oshkosh, Wisconsin, Cliff lived a long and meaningful life marked by hard work, kindness, and devotion to those he loved. He witnessed nearly a century of history and embraced life with strength, wisdom, and grace.

Cliff was a dedicated husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend. He found joy in spending time with family, sharing stories, offering guidance, and creating lasting memories with those closest to him. His steady presence, warm heart, and sense of humor will be deeply missed.

Throughout his life, Cliff was known for his strong values, integrity, and willingness to help others. He worked at American Can for 25 years and spent another 25 years at ABA Custom Woodworking. He also served as a corporal in the United States Army from 1952 to 1956. Cliff was also a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Leida Grable, and his three sisters, Lois, Annette, and Gayle and daughter in law Valerie Grable and grandson Joshua Grable. He is survived by his devoted wife of 69 years, Jane Grable.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Lori Miller (Michael) and Dave Grable (Renee); his grandchildren, Jason Miller, Rachel Hensley (Greg), Kalie Barrett (Nate), Brie Grable, and Tanner Grable; his great-grandchildren, Theodore Hensley and Brooks Barrett; and many extended family members and dear friends.

A celebration of life will be held on Thursday, May 7, 2026, at Davenport Family Funeral Home and Crematory, 419 E Terra Cotta Ave (Rt. 176) with visitation from 9:30 am until a brief service held at 11:30am. Burial will follow at McHenry County Memorial Park, Woodstock. All family and friends are invited to attend.

Though he will be deeply missed, his legacy of love, resilience, and wisdom will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Crystal Lake Food Pantry, 42 East St. Crystal Lake, IL 60014.
