Colin Newnam

Colin Newnam,17, of Barrington, passed away unexpectedly on July 25, 2026. Born on October 7, 2008, in Hoffman Estates, Illinois, Colin was the beloved son of Michael Newnam and Anita Salley.

He was preparing to begin his senior year at Barrington High School, where he proudly challenged himself with advanced classes. His teachers recognized in him an exceptional intellect and tremendous potential, but what they admired most was the remarkable young man he was becoming.

Colin was employed at Yuppie Puppie Grooming, where he was enthusiastically training to become a dog groomer. While he enjoyed his work with animals, his lifelong dream was to serve his community as a police officer.

A natural problem-solver, Colin was incredibly handy and mechanically inclined. He loved working on cars, figuring out how things worked, and tinkering with anything he could get his hands on especially Legos. His passion for automobiles extended to motorcycles and his ever-growing Hot Wheels collection, each one reflecting his lifelong fascination with cars. Whether he was dirt biking, working in the garage, or learning something new, Colin found joy in keeping his hands busy and his mind engaged.

Some of Colin's happiest memories were made with his cousins in New Mexico. He treasured the time they spent together, especially enjoying the outdoors, riding dirt bikes, and shooting together. Those moments of laughter, adventure, and family were among the experiences he cherished most.

Colin had a heart that naturally drew people together. His teachers and principal describe him as a unifier—someone who instinctively noticed when another person was standing alone and made sure they felt included. He was the kind of young man who welcomed everyone, regardless of background or social circle. At Barrington High School, he formed genuine friendships with students from every walk of life because he never judged others; instead, he saw the good in everyone.

He will be remembered for his intelligence, friendly nature, outgoing personality, thoughtfulness, and remarkable selflessness. Colin constantly put others before himself, carried himself with exceptional manners, and treated everyone with kindness and respect. His sincerity was one of his greatest gifts. He never pretended to be someone he wasn't, and his authentic spirit made those around him feel accepted, valued, and understood.

An avid animal lover, Colin adored both cats and dogs equally. He shared a special bond with his beloved girlfriend, Tamalia, whose love and companionship brought him great happiness. Above all else, Colin treasured the people in his life and made sure they knew how much they meant to him.

Colin is survived by his loving parents, Anita (Rob) Salley and Michael (Beth) Newnam; his beloved siblings, Alex (Joe) Gianario, Dillon Lorentz, Marche Salley, Aliya Salley and Ayden Salley; his cherished girlfriend, Tamelia; his precious dogs, Tangie and Kellie; his maternal grandparents, Daniel and Dorthella Trampp, paternal grandparents, William and Ellen Melka. He is further survived by many treasured aunts, uncles, cousins and friends and all whose lives were made brighter by knowing him.

Visitation for Colin will be held on Monday, August 3, 2026 from 1 PM until 8 PM at Davenport Family Funeral Home, 149 W. Main St., Barrington.
