Corinne Rose Waitrovich

Corinne was born in St. Paul, Minnesota, to Phil and Patricia. She was the oldest of seven. She grew up in Champaign, Illinois, until she left to attend St. Norbert College in De Pere, Wisconsin.

At St. Norbert’s she majored in elementary education and minored in art. She was the president of her sorority- the Kappas. She enjoyed her time in the sorority and met lifelong friends there. She met her husband Douglas Waitrovich her junior year and they both graduated and married there at St. Joe’s. They settled in Green Bay and had a daughter Courtney and a son Eric.

Corinne was a teacher for her entire life and taught in many districts and many different subjects. She was also an artist who drew and painted landscapes and animals. She enjoyed travelling and always was wanting to try new things- everything from tennis, golf, horseback riding, restaurants or shopping. Corinne’s love language was very obviously gift giving- she loved giving gifts both small and large. She always loved bringing friends and family something she thought they would enjoy and always gifted her nurses and care team when she was going through treatment. Her family could count on her being talked into opening a Christmas present or two early because everyone knew she was so excited about the gifts. Corinne was always glamorous- she loved getting her hair and nails done and dressed to the nines wherever she went.

Although the last few years of her life were dominated by leukemia and her cancer treatments, her life was so much more than that. She was full of enthusiasm and always fought hard to be here. After being diagnosed in 2022 she had a bone marrow transplant, chemo, and many other treatments, and beat the odds that most face with this type of cancer. Through all of it she never gave up and tried to live her life to the fullest with dinners out, 50th wedding anniversary celebration, family trip to Door County, enjoying her granddaughter Maya and spending time with her husband and kids.

Corinne had amazing care teams both in Arizona where she lived when she was diagnosed and back in Illinois where she ended up. She loved her nurses and became good friends with many of them. Our whole family appreciates the care, respect and dignity shown by her health care team and hospice.

Corinne passed away at home just as she wanted to with her husband of 51 years by her side. She is survived by her husband Douglas, her daughter Courtney (husband JR), her son Eric (wife Linh, daughter Maya) and countless family, cousins, friends, and students. No funeral service will be held.
