Craig Benton McKee

Craig Benton McKee, 84, a retired Radio Broadcasting Executive, died Friday July 24, 2026 in Barrington, Illinois.

Craig was born August 7, 1941 in Nashville Tennessee and raised in Glenview Illinois. He graduated from Glenbrook North High School in 1959 and attended Park College in Missouri and Drew University in New Jersey majoring in Political Science.

After college, while beginning his career, Craig served in the U.S. Naval Reserves. His career path led him to become the General Sales Manager at WLS radio in Chicago – a position he loved. He later continued in the radio field in Minneapolis, Denver and Memphis.

After retiring from broadcasting Craig moved to Highland Park, Illinois. Being a lifelong Chicago Cubs fan, he worked part time as an ambassador for the Cubs organization and was thrilled to witness the Cubs’ World Series championship in 2016.

Craig loved adventure and travel. He especially enjoyed the East coast and sailing off the coast of Maine. He was naturally curious and was an avid reader of History and Crime Novels.

Craig is survived by his beloved daughter, Nicole McKee, former wife Barbara McKee, partner Beth Miller, sisters Elisabeth Schoon and Carolyn (Jack) Schaefer, nieces Kristen (Fred) Johnson, Greta (Jamie) Ponce, and nephews Andrew (Christine) Schaefer, and Thomas Schaefer who all loved their Uncle Craig.

Craig was preceded in death by his parents, Helen and Roger, and his faithful dog Mikey. Craig’s presence will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved “Mac”.

In the months to come, a celebration of Craig’s life will be held for family and friends. The family suggests that any memorial contributions be sent to Broadcasters Foundation of America  or the Alzheimer’s Association of America.
