Daniel Heath King

It is with deep love and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Daniel Heath King, who left his earthly home on September 20th, 2026, at the young age of 23.

Daniel was born in Sheffield, AL, on November 1st, 2002. He was the fourth child in his family and the eighth grandchild. After moving throughout life, he settled in Crystal Lake, IL, and built a grand life.

To know him was to love him, and to be in his presence was to be entertained. He was effortlessly funny, incredibly smart, and had a magnetic energy that lit up every room he entered. Daniel somehow knew when to say just the right thing to make the worst situation feel like it wasn't too bad. His presence was more than enough to make life feel a little bit easier. He moved through the world with an adventurous, free-spirited heart, yet he remained steadily grounded in his values. He knew no strangers, only friends he hadn't met yet. Daniel had a way of making people feel heard, making you feel understood, and feeling like you mattered. He gave the best hugs. The kind that would make you feel safe, loved, and like everything was going to be okay, all while popping your back at the same time. He lived his life wide open, balancing between a relentless drive to succeed and a need to explore and see new things. His joyful spirit reminded us all not to take life too seriously.

Daniel was preceded in death by his Aunt, Tiffany Thrasher; Grandmother, Beulah Newell; and Grandfather, Joe King.

Daniel is survived by his loving parents, Heath King and Misty King; his devoted siblings, Samantha King, Jeremy King, Rachel King (Nathan), and Mackenzie King Kirksey (Adrian); his favorite nephew, Calvin King-Ocker; Grandparents, Sheila and Phillip Potts; a host of Aunts and Uncles, many cousins, and a multitude of friends who became his family.

Visitation with Daniel will be open on Sunday, September 27th, from 12pm until 4pm at Davenport Family Funeral Home, 419 E. Terra Cotta Ave., Crystal Lake. Following the visitation, there will be a Celebration of Life from 5pm to 8pm at the Old Town Hall in Crystal Lake.

Another visitation time will be open on Monday, September 28th, from 10am until a service at 11am, at the funeral home. Following the funeral service, we will be heading to Crystal Lake Memorial Park at 1pm for Daniel's final resting place.

Daniel, you were more than just a son and brother; you were a lifelong friend to so many people. You were a constant light in everyone's life. Though the chain of our family has been broken, the love, laughter, and memories you leave behind will guide us until we meet again. Your story doesn't end here; it will live on in each and every life you touched.

Rest easy, and say "hi" to Grandma for us.
