Daniel John Treptow, age 76, of Crystal Lake, IL passed away peacefully at home while enjoying the evening on his front porch on Friday, April 26, 2024.
Daniel was born at Sherman Hospital in Elgin, IL on March 10, 1948, and spent his childhood along the Fox River in Cary before moving to Crystal Lake. He graduated from Crystal Lake Central High School in 1966 and Western Illinois University in 1970 with a Bachelor of Business Administration. He married the love of his life, Jeanne Rafferty, in 1972 and was a devoted husband, loving father, and doting grandfather.
Dan loved the outdoors: fishing, hiking, canoeing, camping, and taking his family on many road trip adventures. He also participated in backpacking and camping trips as a leader with Boy Scout Troop 164. He worked at Precision Twist Drill in Crystal Lake, and later at Power Conversion Products in Crystal Lake as an inside sales manager and Conrardy Company in Park Ridge, IL. He was a baseball enthusiast as a player, little league coach, and Cubs fan. He participated in athletic events such as swimming, running, bicycling, and triathlons. Active in his community, Dan was a member of the Crystal Lake Jaycees and served on the board of directors.
Daniel is survived by his beloved wife of 52 years, Jeanne Treptow (nee Rafferty); loving children, John Treptow and partner Jen Bernau, Katie Lowery, and Megan Troyer; grandchildren, Jacob, Mary, Chris, Brian, Sarah, Emily, Claire, James, and Anna Lowery, and Nora Troyer; siblings, Wendy (Kenneth) Johnson of Mountain Home, AR, and John (Judy) Treptow of Ridgefield, IL; and many lifelong friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Earl Treptow and Alvina Steiner; and by his brother David Treptow.
A memorial visitation for Daniel will be held from 2pm until the time of prayers and eulogies at 4pm on Saturday, May 4, 2024, at Davenport Family Funeral Home and Crematory, 419 E. Terra Cotta Ave. (Rte. 176), Crystal Lake, IL 60014.
