David E. Wagner

David E. Wagner passed away peacefully May 12, 2025 surrounded by his loving children. He was born October 27, 1939 in Berwyn, IL to George and Evelyn Wagner.

David was a graduate of Lyons Township High School and attended the University of Illinois, Navy Pier campus. He proudly served in the U.S. Army and the Army Reserves from 1962-1968 at the Indiantown Gap Military Reservation in Pennsylvania.

Following his military service David held positions at Harris-Kerr-Forrester in Chicago; IBM in Chicago; and A.B. Dick Company, where he had the privilege to work on a team working to create ink-jet technology.

David enjoyed playing baseball while in the Army. He also loved coaching his sons little league baseball, and coaching basketball to Berwyn youth as well. In his spare time he enjoyed vacations of fishing and laughing about “the one that got away”. In retirement he took up golf; was an avid Chicago Cubs fan; and loved watching Jeopardy with his wife, Julie. David always kept a keen interest in modern technology from the early MacIntosh Computer to the newest iPad, his curiosity never waivered.

David is survived by his daughter, Mary (Mark) Miller; son, Christopher (Catherine) Wagner; grandchildren, Philip (Alicia) Miller, Holly (Trung) Nguyen-Mills, Amy Miller, Christopher Wagner, and Carolyn Wagner; great grandchildren, Sidney and Grace Miller; brother, George Wagner; sister-in-law, Jill (Chuck) Tobias West; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Julie; his parents; and siblings, Shirley Olsen and Robert Wagner.

A service will be planned at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, the date and time will be shared soon.
