On Friday, June 27, 2025, Dennis M. Kelly, 76, of Barrington, Illinois, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family. Dennis was the beloved husband of Vicki (née Hausen); loving father of Matthew (Cathy), Liz (Kevin), and Tess; and devoted grandfather to Maggie and Caitlyn. He was a cherished brother to Frances (Cunningham), and the late William, Mary Denise (Vogler), Kathleen (Lynch), Emmett, John, Richard, and Thomas. He was the dear son of the late Loretta and Frank Kelly, and a proud uncle and cousin to many.
The youngest of nine siblings, Dennis was a steady and loyal presence in the Kelly family. Known for his quiet strength, kind heart, sharp wit, and unwavering support, Dennis was a trusted confidant and source of encouragement to all who knew him. Dennis was a passionate sports enthusiast and lifelong fan of the DePaul Blue Demons. He especially loved basketball and football, and found great joy in coaching youth basketball and soccer. He was a tireless supporter of his children’s and grandchildren’s activities, often seen in the stands cheering them on.
He was also a regular fixture at equestrian competitions, proudly backing his wife and daughter’s love of horses. Whether in a stadium, gym, or barn, Dennis showed up—and always with pride and purpose. In his professional life, Dennis built a distinguished career as an insurance broker and risk manager, concluding his work with FGMK Insurance. He was known for his integrity, professionalism, and dedication to clients and colleagues alike. Dennis also gave generously of his time to his community. He served as President of the Barrington Hills Park District and was a long-time member of the Barrington Area Chamber of Commerce, where he served as Chairman of the Board (2019–2020) and on the Executive Committee. His leadership reflected his belief in common-sensegovernance and community-first values.
Dennis often said his job was to “listen first, lead with reason, and always look for ways to make our community stronger.” His legacy of calm leadership, family devotion, and civic commitment will continue to inspire all who knew him.
