Diana Marie (Kohorst) Schoeneck

March 31, 1956 — September 17, 2022

Davenport Crystal Lake

Diana Marie Schoeneck (née Kohorst), age 66, passed away on Saturday September 17, 2022. Diana was born March 31, 1956 in Springfield, IL. Those that knew her best called her Deedee. Her grandsons affectionately came to call her Mema.

Always striving for academic excellence, Diana held two college degrees. She was most proud of her master’s degree that was obtained from Columbia College while simultaneously working and raising her children. Diana was a recent retiree from the City of Rolling Meadows where she worked as a senior accountant. She passionately spent her time helping others by volunteering with various local organizations. There were many years she dedicated to the Algonquin Lioness Club alongside her best friend, Pamela Perrott. Diana was an incredible wife to the love of her life, Ken Schoeneck. Many remember Diana as an incredibly fun, and endlessly caring friend. Some would even venture to say, “the life of the party!” Amazingly, it wasn’t just her four children that called her mom.

There were many lifelong friends of her children who proudly adopted that same privilege. Diana had a way of selflessly taking those around her under her wings. She loved spending time with family and friends, establishing holiday traditions, camping, lounging in or by the pool, burying herself in a good book, singing karaoke, quilting, and so much more. Diana also had an avid love for dogs, and will be surely missed by her two surviving pups (Butters and Millie). One of her greatest joys later in life was spending time with her two grandsons. She really loved being a baseball grandma, and going to Jackson’s games.

Diana is survived by her loving children, Andrew Sylthe (Patricia Casey), Joseph Sylthe, Kara Sylthe (Joshua Andrea) and Alexander Schoeneck; grandchildren, Jackson Sylthe and Jordan Sylthe; siblings, Toni Miller and Michael Kohorst (Karen); sister-in-law, Patricia Kohorst.

Preceded in death by her parents, Francis Kohorst and Jacqueline Orce; step-father, William Orce; husband, Kenneth Schoeneck; sibling, Mark Kohorst; brother-in-law, Michael Miller.

Services will be held privately by the family.

In lieu of flowers, monetary contributions may be made to Andrew Sylthe on behalf of the family to help cover the cost of funeral and cremation services.
