Doreen Barbara Roskopf

Doreen Barbara Roskopf of Crystal Lake (formerly of Bensenville and Wood Dale), age 87, passed away peacefully on May 17, 2024.  

Beloved wife of Peter, loving mother of Michelle and Paul, devoted mother-in-law to Paul’s wife, Janet, and proud grandmother of Jake.  She was preceded in death by her husband Peter; sister, Rosemary; mother, Olga; and father, John.  Doreen loved her pet cats, Whiska and Carlos Z (yep, the Cubs pitcher), and of course her grand dog, Luie!

Even though Doreen was a full-time mother, she did have a few different jobs throughout those years. Once the kids were out of the house, she was able to work for her doctor as a receptionist. Later, after earning a certification as a nursing assistant from the College of DuPage, she worked as his CNA. She was also an avid gardener, spending much of her free time tending to her flowers and plants.   

Doreen loved being with family, her pets, and shopping with her sister Rosemary. She also loved her close friends Kay, Mazie, Betty, and Michelle’s partner, Jim. With the help of her dear friend and caregiver, Ewa, who she loved dearly, Doreen was able to stay in touch with her friends. She very much enjoyed socializing with friends throughout her life and continued to be the life of the party at her senior living center. Doreen had a big heart for animals.  No animal could walk by her without getting a hug. Doreen was an extremely generous person who will be dearly missed by her pet cats, family, and friends.

A visitation for Doreen will be held on Tuesday May 28, 2024, from 4pm until 7pm at Davenport Family Funeral Home, 419 E. Terra Cotta Ave., Crystal Lake, IL. A Funeral mass will be held at 10am the following morning at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, 451 W Terra Cotta Ave, Crystal Lake, IL. Burial to follow at Queen of Heaven Catholic Cemetery in Hillside, IL.
