Doretta E. Schwarz, 65 years of age and resident of Algonquin, Illinois, passed away peacefully on December 6, 2025, in Chicago, Illinois.
She was born on December 10, 1959, daughter of the late Beniamino and Christina Mazzone. Doretta was a graduate of Buffalo Grove High School. On October 14, 1978, she was united in marriage to the love of her life, Donald Schwarz. The two spent many happy years together building their lives and raising a family together.
Doretta spent many dedicated years working in logistics, a career that brought her not only pride but also numerous lifelong friendships she cherished deeply. She had a natural gift for helping others—whether offering a listening ear, stepping in when someone needed a hand, or simply showing kindness in quiet, meaningful ways.
Her love for animals was just as strong. Doretta cared for her dogs and cats with a gentle heart, treating all pets as members of the family.
Family was the center of her world. She treasured every moment spent traveling with those she loved, creating memories that will continue to bring comfort and joy. She never missed a chance to cheer on her grandkids at their sporting events, celebrating each achievement with unmistakable pride.
Some of her happiest times were the simplest ones—gathered around a table, sharing a meal, a story, and the warmth of togetherness. Doretta’s kindness, devotion, and love will continue to live on in the hearts of everyone who knows her.
Doretta is survived by her loving husband, Don Schwarz; daughters Candice (Alan) Perri and Kate (Nicholas) Munsen; grandchildren Brennan Perri, Hannah Munsen, Cullen Perri, and Bennett Munsen; as well as nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends. She will be dearly missed.
A visitation for Doretta will be held on Monday, December 15, beginning at 3 p.m., with a Funeral Service to be held at 8 p.m., at Davenport Family Funeral Home, 419 East Terra Cotta Ave., Crystal Lake, IL 60014. Private interment will take place the following day.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Animal House Shelter. Animal House Shelter is a non-profit, no-kill 501(c)3 shelter for all breeds of dogs and cats. They rescue, care for, and find homes for homeless pets.
