Doris Ann (Rhymer) Tippie

On Wednesday, June 14th, Doris Ann Tippie, loving wife and mother of three children passed away at the age of 90.

Doris was born on January 30, 1933 in Fruitland, NC to Lloyd Sr. and Belle Rhymer. She worked for Sealand Service in ocean transportation for ten years. In 1978 she married Ronald Tippie and celebrated their 44th wedding anniversary on December 17, 2022.

Doris had a passion for gardening and over a 20 year period with assistance from a landscape friend transformed her home’s backyard woods into a showpiece garden. She also enjoyed art and opened an art school in Crystal Lake, IL called Heritage Art Center. She enjoyed traveling the world, meeting new people and living in Taiwan and Hong Kong over a 4 year period in the 1980”s.

Doris was preceded in death by her mother, Belle and her father, Lloyd Sr. She is survived by her husband, Ron, her three children, Craig, Debra, Denise, nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held on Sunday, June 25, 2023 at the Davenport Family Funeral Home and Crematory, 149 W. Main St., Barrington, IL at 11:00 AM. Flowers may be sent to the funeral home.
