Dorothy Jean Connolley

Dorothy Jean Connolley, 77, passed away peacefully on January 12, 2024, at Northwestern Hospital in McHenry, Illinois with her only Son, Ken, by her side. Dorothy was born on April 4, 1946, at Oak Park Hospital to the late Robert S. Connolley and the late Martha Josphine Connolley.

Dorothy was the youngest of four children who lived with her parents at their request for 47 years, which gave Dorothy’s son, Ken Connolley, a loving and stable home, and a family he could call his own with lots of precious memories. Dorothy gave her all and well over 100% of time, heart, and money to care for her parents and son.

Dorothy excelled at everything she set her mind and heart to. She attended St. Cyprian Catholic School in River Grove, Illinois and West Leyden High School, North Lake, Illinois where she made a lifetime full of friends and good memories.

Dorothy always worked close to home in case her parents needed her in an emergency so she would always be able to come home and help. Dorothy was very hard working, and her bosses were very good to her and her family. During her employment as Assistant General Manager at Hyatt House, Rosemont, Illinois she met Mickey Rooney and many other celebrities. She was assistant to the Chief Engineer, Ed, at ORD Airport, and Secretary at Coleco Inc for two bosses. Hardship fell on the salespeople when Coleco filed for bankruptcy, the corporate office only agreed on severance pay package for Dorothy with stipulations not to work, shortly after this, Dorothy and her family moved to 421 Lake Ave, Crystal Lake, Illinois 60014 where they lived from 88-93.

Dorothy is survived by her loving son, Kenneth Connolley, who misses her dearly. She is preceded in death by her parents, Robert, and Martha Connolley.

Services will be held privately, where Dorothy will be laid to rest next to her parents at Queen of Heaven Cemetery, Hillside, Illinois.
