Edward Dvorak

Edward J. Dvorak, 93, was born February 2, 1929 in Chicago, IL, to Josephine Kotrch & James Dvorak. He entered into eternal life January 29, 2023 at home, to be with our Lord and his late wife Alice.

Ed was lovingly cared for by his daughter Suzie throughout the last several years and she and her husband Andy graciously opened their home to him during the last year.

Ed was ninth of eleven children, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather.

Ed served our country in the Marines beginning in 1946, then owned his own gas station in Chicago. Vacationing in the suburbs drew him to Crystal Lake. He and Alice loved the area so much they decided to settle down there. His fuel oil business became a distributorship to farms and gas stations for the Pure Oil Company. After retiring from the fuel oil business Ed pursued public office, starting as a village clerk of Lakewood, IL, then as a Nunda township Highway Commissioner, and lastly as a McHenry County Board Member. His Nunda Township years were some of his very fondest years of service and he kept in touch with many of those relationships long after holding office.

While Ed spent time with his family and friends, he often enjoyed the game of golf, card playing and fishing. Hosting the annual family picnics at Veterans Acres Park was another highlight that unified his large extended family.

Ed and Alice have four children, Tom (Karen) Dvorak of Woodstock, IL, Rich Dvorak of Elgin, IL, Karen (Jay) Young of Rochester, MN and Suzie (Andy) Eichhorn of West Dundee, IL; five grandchildren, Desiree (John) Hendle, Kayley Dvorak, Jack (Katherine Canon) Young, Christopher Boyle and Caitlin Boyle; and five great grandchildren, Blake, Rhett, Wyatt, Nash and Alana.

A celebration of life and memorial mass will be held for Ed on April 15, 2023 beginning at 10:00 am at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, 451 W. Terra Cotta Ave., Crystal Lake, IL.
