Elaine Sanders passed away peacefully September 26, 2022 in Barrington. She was born May 6, 1930 in Chicago to Charles and Rose Kovarik.
Elaine loved dogs and always had one or two throughout her years. Lady, her most recent Australian Shepherd, was a devoted companion that helped her through the end of life. Hope, the German Shepherd before Lady, was everyone’s friend while also being her enthusiastic buddy. King, the Border Collie, was the leader of the pack when her kids were young and once saved her from being badly bitten by a neighbor’s ferocious dog.
She also loved to cook and hosted many holiday dinners for her family, which was a special gift to all.
Oil painting and gardening were her two other passions. She graduated from the Art Institute of Chicago and won many awards in different painting juries. Her masterful paintings will live on with the family. Her gardens were gorgeous and full of colorful flowers and plants that she and everyone else enjoyed.
Elaine is survived by her children, Ray (Pam) Sanders, Greg (Patty) Sanders, and Linda (David Correia) Dalemar; grandchildren, Giancarla, Larisa, Riordan, Collier, Deanna, Jenna, Lauren, Annika, and Lars; great grandchildren, Austin, Samuel, and Illya; and dear friend and neighbor, Donna. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Visitation will be 10am until the funeral service at 11am Friday, September 30 at Davenport Family Funeral Home, 149 W. Main St (Lake Cook Road), Barrington. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park in Forest Park.
