It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Elizabeth “Beth” Marie Thornton (née Hamilton), a beloved wife, mother, sister, aunt, and friend to many, who passed away quietly at her home in Barrington, IL, on December 27, 2025.
Beth was born in Elmira, NY, on June 23, 1965. Beth loved her Labrador dogs “Cappy” and “Clancy,” and enjoyed playing softball, reading, cooking, and hosting social gatherings. She was an avid fan of the Chicago Cubs and Bears. Family and her Catholic faith were Beth’s highest priorities. She had a deep love for Jesus and Blessed Mother Mary. She was a genuine, selfless, and loving soul who brought joy and laughter to all around her. Her warmth, generosity, and unwavering love will be missed by all who knew her.
Beth is survived by her beloved husband, Michael Thornton II; her loving son, Brendan Thornton; her sister, Jacqueline Jacobus; her father-in-law, Michael Thornton; her sister-in-law, Colleen (Michael) Irvin; and her brother-in-law, Patrick Thornton.
