Elizabeth “Betty” Hayward Wilson passed away surrounded by the love of her family. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother whose warmth and kindness touched everyone who knew her.
Betty shared 68 wonderful years of marriage with her beloved husband, Donald Anderson Wilson. They were married on August 27, 1958, and built a life centered on family, faith, and time spent together. They were truly inseparable and enjoyed traveling the world, creating lasting memories and friendships along the way.
She was the loving mother of Jacklynn (Bruce) Lesniak of Pinehurst, NC and Cottage Grove, WI, and Donald H. (Maria) Wilson of Brookfield, WI. Betty was a proud grandmother to Dillon Lesniak, Kaelynn Lesniak-McCracken (Sam), Bryan Wilson (Angie), Heather (Ian) Trice, and Scott Wilson (Amanda). Her joy grew even more with the arrival of her great-grandchildren, Miles Wilson, Benny Wilson, Calvin Wilson, Lucy Wilson, and Maddie Trice, all of whom she adored.
Betty dedicated her career to teaching special needs children, a role that reflected her gentle heart and caring nature. She held a degree in home economics and found joy in nurturing others, whether in the classroom or at home. She loved gardening, baking, and especially entertaining. Known as the “hostess with the mostest,” Betty made birthdays and holidays special, bringing family and friends together around her table.
She was an active member of Bethany Lutheran Church, the Bethany Lutheran Senior Group, and the Garden Gate Garden Club. Her faith and friendships through these organizations were very important to her.
Betty will be remembered for her warm smile, generous spirit, and deep love for her family. She leaves behind a legacy of kindness, devotion, and strength that will continue to live on in those who knew and loved her.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, April 11, from 11am until a service at 1pm at Davenport Family Funeral Home and Crematory, 419 E. Terra Cotta Ave., Crystal Lake. Burial will follow at Windridge Memorial Park, Cary.
Memorials in Betty’s name may be made to Shriners Hospitals for Children or Bethany Lutheran Church Senior Group, 76 West Crystal Lake Ave., Crystal Lake, IL 60014.
