Euphia Dee McAtee

Euphia Dee McAtee, 101, of Huntley passed away peacefully on August 18, 2024 at Alden Estates Nursing Home, Huntley. She was born on May 16, 1923 in Toronto, South Dakota to David and Ellen (nee Lindquist) McLaughlin.

After high school, Dee attended business school and worked as a secretary and office manager at various companies. 

She married J.W. McAtee, and after his passing in 1965, Dee faced the challenge of raising their five children on her own. Despite the hardships, she found joy in traveling with her family, visiting casinos, and sharing a love of horse racing with her daughter, Nancy.

Dee is survived by her daughters, Linda K. (the late Robert) Potowski, Virginia L. (Richard) Riker, and Janet (Pete) Lohmann; daughter in law, Mary Joy Honore (the late James W.) McAtee; son-in-law, Richard W. (the late Nancy) Sedin; numerous grandchildren; and a dear friend, Virginia Vackar.

She was preceded in death by her husband, J.W. McAtee; her son, James W. McAtee; and her daughter, Nancy H. Sedin.
